Romain Lacombe is the Head of Innovation at the French Prime Minister’s task force for Open Government Data. At Etalab (data.gouv.fr), he focuses on policy delivery, startups outreach and international relations, and represented France in negotiations on the G8 Open Data Charter. A Silicon Valley entrepreneur – he founded venture-backed mobile startup Focal Labs, later acquired, in 2008 – and a civil servant, Romain authored a seminal report to the French government on Open Data’s potential in 2011. He graduated from MIT’s Technology & Policy M.Sc. as a Fulbright Scholar, holds an engineering degree from Ecole Polytechnique and teaches technology innovation at Sciences Po Paris.
